Mention that word around a group of democrats and it would be as if you just said Bill Clinton was a lackluster President. Conservative. Soon to become a swear word in the lexicon of americana, if it hasn't already. Conservative. Is there really a set definition for what this term means in this gray culture we live in......short answer no, long answer yes.

Ok, here is a breakdown of the standards and practices of a conservative human being.

First, the person is usually religious in one form or another. Whether Christian, Muslim, or Jewish, a conservative person is almost always entrenched in one religion or another. In fact, the conservative agenda happens to be full of values and morals that are passed down from a spiritual authority.

Conservatives are against abortion because it is murder, which, other than being illegal, is also a strike against the Ten Commandents. Abortion is such a touchy subject when it comes to public political figures nowadays because it seems as if everyone is afraid to say the wrong thing and offend somebody somewhere. But it has been said that you can't please all the people, all the time. The abortion debate harkens me back to an episode of the Simpsons. As tv shows go, a solid voice on cultural and social times, the Simpsons throw a humorous twist on to controversial issues. Here is the example. It was the Halloween episode where the two big ugly aliens Kang and Kudos abduct 1996 Presidential Candidates Bill Clinton and Bob Dole. The aliens stole the men's indentities in hopes of colonizing Earth for their home planet. So, the alien masquerading as Dole is giving a speech in front of voters when the subject of abortion comes up.

"Abortions for all," he stated.
BOOOOO
"Very well then. No Abortions for anyone."
BOOOOO
"OK, abortions for some, mini american flags for others."
YAAAAAYYY!!!

As hyperbolic as the example is, it just goes to show how abortion divides americans and causes great passion in its supporters and detractors. However, conservatives are more likely to be against abortion than for it.

The debate of gay marriage rages on like a vast, unkept wildfire that threatens to consume us all....figuratively of course. Conservatives agree almost across the board that gay marriage is a sin and directly defies the word of the Big Man Upstairs ( you know...God). A famous line from a reverend that is often repeated is that God created Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve. Certainly a rallying cry for conservative Christians. Gay marriage is wrong, pure and simple. The mantra for conservatives should be this solid stand, instead they are wish-washy in their approach. They say just enough and at the same time not enough. Conservatives are so afraid that they will be pigeon-holed as being racist, sexist, homophobic, and backwards.

Seriously I am so sick of the term homophobic. It is thrown around anytime someone opposes homosexuality , they are automatically homophobic. The word itself means afraif of homosexuals. Conservatives arent afraid of them, they just believe it is wrong, immoral, and should be stopped and certainly not glorified. I personally dont like cheese , but that doesnt mean I am a diaryphobic. I am not afraid of it, I just dont like it and certainly dont want it parading through the streets on ST patricks day.

Being conservative means being more cautious and careful in respect with morals and values. Conservative are supposed to respect all people that deserve respect. Society has turned the conservative base into whispering cowards that are afraid to speak their mind or express discontent toward an idea for fear of being labeled an -ist. It is sickening. Conservatives dont want a bunch of illegal immigrants sneaking into this country and that means we are racist. A lot of conservatives are against Affirmative Action so that mean we are racist and sexist. Unfortunately conservatives are scared to death to speak out against anything, thus we find ourselves and our country at a moral crossroads.
